« you don't have to make it yourself anymore! | no sleep 'till monday »

people ask, "why do you still live here?"

So you all know by now that my hometown has been named Money Magazine's 8th Best Place to Live for 2006, right? I know as a homegrown Boisean, it is uncool to be all rah-rah about my little city in the desert. So I'll let the NYT do it for me.

I had no idea. Welcome to the next wave of folks that come to my neighborhood buy a house, tear it down, build a monstrosity, then sell it for $1.2 millon. Do I sound bitter? It's a true story.

Oh, Boise is getting better. After being here for 12 years (this August - ouch!), I can say that never before have I noticed such a growth in the interestingness of a town... However (comma) it's the poor air quality, the incredibly hot summers (hello 105 today) and too-cold winters that make me want to move. I dig that the NYT op-ed person shouted-out some of my fave spots in town, but boo-urns on the recommend for the ugliest building downtown: The Grove Hotel.
